Command Sergeant Major Marshall L. Huffman

Command Sergeant Major Huffman, of Montgomery, Alabama, enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1984. CSM Huffman entered Basic Training at Ft Jackson, SC in January 1984. He completed Advanced Individual Training for Combat Medic (91B) at Ft Sam Houston, TX and immediately afterwards, he completed Basic Airborne School at Ft Benning, GA.

CSM Huffman assignments includes: Combat Medic with the 2d MASH and 676th Med Det, 34th Medical Battalion, Ft Benning GA; Practical Nurse at the 2d Field Hospital, Bremerhaven, Germany and NCOIC at the Garlstedt Health Clinic, Garlstedt Germany; Wardmaster for C-Co 307th Med Bn and Platoon Sergeant for C-Co 407th FSB, 82d Airborne Division, Ft Bragg, NC; Senior Drill Sergeant, E-Co 187th Med Bn, EFMB Test Control NCOIC and NCOIC, Department of Training Support, Ft Sam Houston, TX; First Sergeant HHC, 201st FSB and C-Co, 201st FSB, Vilseck, Germany; 1SG Huffman deployed in support of Kosovo Operational Forces while assigned to 201st FSB in Germany; the XVIII Airborne Corps Surgeon’s Sergeant Major, CSM for 56th Med Evac Bn, CSM for 44th Medical Command (Rear)(Provisional), and the CSM for 28th Combat Support Hospital, all of Ft Bragg, NC. He deployed to Iraq with the 28th CSH in support of OIF 06-08. Prior to his current assignment he served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 32d Medical Brigade, Ft Sam Houston, TX. He is currently the CSM at Bassett Army Community Hospital at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and the Senior Enlisted Medical Advisor for the state of Alaska.

CSM Huffman holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Touro University and a Bachelors Degree in Science from Excelsior College. He has excelled in every leadership position from Squad Leader to Command Sergeant Major and successfully completed every NCOES School to include the Sergeant Major Academy (Class #53). His other military schooling includes: Combat Medic Course, Basic Airborne School, NBC Course, Practical Nurse Course, EMT Course, CPR Instructor Course, EO Course, Jumpmaster Course, Drill Sergeant School, Master Fitness Course, Instructor Course, First Sergeants Course, Air Assault Course, Combatives Level I, Northern Warfare Cold Weather Training and Computer A+ Certification.

CSM Huffman’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (Silver OLC), the Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), Meritorious Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (Fourth Award), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (third Award), the NATO Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Air Assault Badge and Master Parachutist badge, Taiwan Jumpwings, Polish Jumpwings, German Shoots Badge (Silver), Driver’s Badge (Wheel), Humanitarian Service Ribbon, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 Bronze Stars). CSM Huffman is also a member of the prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit.
